Natural Journeys

Natural Journeys is a mixed age drop off Nature Immersion program for 3-12 year olds.

During these sessions we are able to slow down and build relationships with each other and the environment. Each week we build on child-led interests to facilitate deep investigation in the areas of each child's passions.

These sessions allow children the opportunity to explore, imagine and engage with the natural environment and 'wild spaces'.

Through play and shared investigation, children are able to develop solid foundations for life-long learning. They build confidence, resilience, collaboration and critical thinking skills as they follow their interests and passions together.

Older children benefit by developing leadership skills as they support, mentor and guide younger children, while the younger children benefit from the role models and support of older children.

These mixed age groups beautifully represent the community and social values inherent to childhood learning found within indigenous communities around the world.

Some possible activities might include:
• shelter-building
• tool work
• bushcraft
• environmental activities
• fire building
• seasonal observations

The sessions are democratically led by the children and supported by qualified and experienced mentors.

We acknowledge the Dharawal, Jerrinja, Wandi Wandian, Budawang and Murramarang people of Yuin Country, the original custodians of the lands on which we live, learn and play. We acknowledge the ancestors, the current elders and the elders of the future. We express our deep gratitude for your ancient and ongoing kinship with this land, your stories and your wisdom.

We extend this acknowledgement to all indigenous peoples of this continent, the world and our own ancestral lineages. Each have valuable wisdom and teachings that guide us back to Mother Earth, to remembering our connection and kinship with all beings, human and non-human.
